In Pursuit of the Perfect Car: Entry 1

I'm an automotive enthusiast, and as such am highly critical of anything and everything most auto makers put out. I bench race cars I can only dream of smelling and promote cars for the most trivial reasons; so what a GTR cost less than a Porsche and is much faster, the Porsche is a much more quality car... it's painted better! Given all this headache, it make sense when it comes to my car I would drive something that is the best possible of whatever I can afford.

The problem with that is there just isn't a best, or anything well rounded enough for me to be satisfied. See, for every warm, sunny spring day there is that bratty little gnat the ends up wedged in my pupil and I spend half an hour trying to get out. This is why an enthusiast car ends up modified 9 time out of 10. I can't think of what the other 10th is, but it probably has something to do with a deep seated hatred of money and a masochistic joy of spending of something rapidly depeciable; which Chrome spell check says isn't a word.

A couple of issues with this though, and I'm about to make them up as I go:

1. Modification should be necessary, everything should work perfect from the factory(japan)/lab(germany)/shed(detroit/england)/lavish whore house(italy).

2. When modification is necessary, say the manufacturer decides to use a plastic pivot in it's shifter (BMW), the modification shouldn't cost more than other cars just because the car cost more from the factory.

3- ∞. Something else, I promise.

So what I've decided to do is start my own thought blurb about why things are right and why things are wrong with every car I get the honor of driving. I promise to be heavily biased and offer subjected opinion even if it's untrue. My goal is to find a car with the combination of all the right things that make a good enthusiast car. The finger is pointed at your girly Miata, garish Evo, and overhyped/priced/failing 3-series as extremist.

In my ranting I will take into account the times and also maybe possible a little about my life at the time. Currently the national average of gas(premium of course) is: $4.01. At this time I would like to say "HAHAHA, suck it!" to California, and "F*** YOU, I HATE YOU WITH THE PASSION OF HELL!" to South Carolina.

This will be something.

TURBO!

So I just picked up a T25 an hour ago.

I also ordered two tires. If they "look" right on the wheels it'll be the size I go with. If they don't... I already ordered them so they'll be the size I'll go with.

Almost...

(I really freaking hate this touchpad!!!!!)

Injectors

The 370cc injectors came in yesterday.

All I need now is turbo, tires, and tune.

Well that and

*Radiator
*Fan
*Fan shroud
*Body work
*BOV attached

wheels came in today.

I was right about the fitment. I did hung one on the rear hub and I looks like it's going to poke a little with 0* of camber. I'm sure if I camber them in some it'll address the issue without looking gaudy.

...I hope.

Wheels ordered

I ordered some Rotas! Am I JDM now!?

Ha, whatever.

I ordered a set of Rota Grids this previous Friday. They should be in Monday.

They are a +12, so I'm kinda pessimistic about how far they will stick out of the wheel well, but well oh well. It's better than the S13 SE wheels that are currently floating on it right now.

Brainstorming

My whole idea with this machine is to keep the cost down and fun up. Safety is important, as is reliability but I'll be honesty in saying they come in a distant tie for second to fun.

The turbo is blown and since this motor wasn't designed to be turbocharged to begin with, I don't think I'll complain too much reverting back to N/A.

I'm thinking a header, intake, and flywheel will do just fine. A nice wheel ...oh god I'm boring myself.

I'll take this one by one.

I get bored rapidly.

240SX 2:

With this one I have a different idea in mind totally. With my first one, which I miss every day, I wanted to build a drift car so I could have as much fun as it looked like drifting was. Then came the realization that I had built more than I could afford to break, and then soon after I started becoming soft.

The 240SX, though minimal in modification, had become too "hardcore" and "immature" for my planned immediate future. Figure that one out...

I traded it for an Acura RSX and felt good about my decision for a little while. Then the Acura just became... insufficient. It got great MPG, could run 87, it was an automatic so I didn't have to worry about shifting, it was comfortable, high enough off the ground so I didn't have to calculate a way to make it over a 4" speed bump...

It was everything I wanted, ...wanted.

After I few months I could give a shi* less about all the creature comforts and easiness. Where was the raw thrills? Where was the passion? Where was the emotion? The fun?

It didn't deliver on any of those fronts and when I realized that passion was more important than comfort I decided I'd had enough.

So I traded it for this, and now I'm back at square one.
